32 SIGNS THAT YOU'RE GOING TO BE SUCCESSFUL

32 Signs You Are Going To Be Highly Successful In Life

You have all it takes to be highly successful.

Here are 32 things you need to work on to bring out the star in you.

Signs you are going to be highly successful

This is not a separation of those who are likely to be highly successful from those who may not be. This is an enlightenment on the important attributes that makes successful people who they are. If you are already doing these things right, you might want to rejoice a little bit while you await the time when your success would come. But if you are found wanting on any of these, it is time to make changes as soon as possible.

You might define “success” in a different way than I do. To some, success is the outcome of being very wealthy, to others, the definition is slightly different. But whatever your definition of success is, you will see 32 important signs that you are going to be highly successful if you continue in that light.

1. You can easily adapt to change

Being successful does not come so easily. If it does, there would have been more successful people than we currently have. This is why it is very important to be able to adapt to change in the ever-changing world. Change is the only thing constant in life, and while the new conditions may be unfavourable, successful people find a way to adapt and thrive until they achieve success.

2. You can take risks and plan ahead

The famous management guru, Peter Drucker, has described the importance of achieving success by managing change effectively. Managing change means you are able to plan ahead based on what is currently available, even if this was not what you expected earlier. You are going to be highly successful if you are able to take risks and manage change as it comes.

3. You are time conscious

Time, they say, is money. There is no truer fact than this. Time may or may not directly bring you money but what you do with it does. People who deliberately or unconsciously waste their time on frivolities end up losing a lot of their productive life, but those who are conscious of their time are likely to be very successful in life.

4. You are open to learning new things

The most ignorant people are those that believe they already know all they need to know. They place an embargo on how much they can know due to their pride or unwillingness to learn, and this restricts their ability to rise above certain levels. One clear sign that you are going to be highly successful is that you are open to learning new things and you clearly see the need to do so.

5. You understand and value relationships

What is one thing that is more powerful than money? It is relationships. Relationships can give you money, opportunities, free access, and so on. So much so that, how much successful you become or how fast you become successful depends on your understanding of the value of genuine relationships. Rather than discard people, build quality relationships. For clarity, building quality relationships is when you invest in people for who they are and they realize that you truly value them.

6. You find yourself among successful people

Birds of the same feathers flock together. This is one true saying about friendship. You become like those you are more acquainted with. While failures surround themselves with like-minds, successful people are drawn towards those who are succeeding or on the path of becoming highly successful.

7. You see competition, not enemies

Competition is not only an undesirable aspect of work life but it is also a great weapon for great developments and innovations. The world would not have been the way it is now if not for healthy competition. While unsuccessful people capitalise on competition as a fierce battle against enemies, successful people see it as an opportunity to improve their lives and productivity.

8. You are willing to help others

No doubt, helping other people may cost you time, money, or other resources but it is of the nature of kind people to help other people regardless. In turn, this becomes an investment in the people’s lives that would make them forever indebted to helping you too. We rise by lifting others, and this is one thing that makes us highly successful people.

9. You forgive easily

Grudges eat up the soul, forgiveness frees it up. Your productivity can be hampered if you are unforgiving and this can affect you in all aspects of your productive life. Successful people agree that it’s not worth allowing negative thoughts about someone to affect their own productivity when they can just forgive and move on peacefully.

Two people you need to forgive: yourself for your past wrongs and poor choices so it doesn’t affect you today, and other people who wronged you. Never allow grudges into the next day, at most.

10. You are not ashamed of little beginnings

Successful people realise the importance of trusting the process. No matter where you are now, it is going to get better if you stay focused on your goals. Many people are unwilling to start small because they are waiting for one big bang overnight. This makes them remain in the same spot all through their lives. However, one hallmark sign of highly successful people is their ability to push through their small beginnings.

11. You see problems as opportunities

The last pandemic was a global problem but do you know it was an opportunity for greater wealth for many individuals and corporations? Problems have a way of giving a stern look to anybody facing them, but just beneath them is an avenue for a greater breakthrough. It is only when you cultivate the habit of looking beyond the problem that you would be able to harness the opportunities embedded in it.

12. You do like making excuses or complaints

There are many creators of excuses but there are fewer successful people. Excuses and success travel in opposite directions, one this way, the other, that way. Honestly speaking, excuses can look very valid, appealing or convincing enough to grant you a pardon, but getting pardoned does not equate to achieving success. If you want to be highly successful, you must do away with the habit of making excuses for everything.

13. You discuss ideas not gossip about people

Successful people spend more time talking or thinking about ideas than talking about people. And when they want to talk about people, they are more interested in studying what they are doing right or wrong to learn lessons for their own endeavours.

Maliciously discussing other people can taint your idea about them, it can destroy your relationship with them and wastes your productive time as well. Because of this, highly successful people do not engage in negative discussions about other people.

14. You are self-motivated

If you continue to wait for other people to motivate you, you would wait for eternity. The harsh truth is that nobody cares about you; they have many other things to think of. Even your parents might not give you the desired motivation you seek. This is more reason why you must decide to motivate yourself instead of waiting for other people to motivate you.

15. You take challenges as opportunities to grow

Challenges come in different forms in our work or vocation. They could result from low sales, poor conversions, difficulty understanding a concept, or low visibility, but instead of allowing these to discourage you, turn them into an opportunity to grow.

16. You listen more than you speak

When you speak, you give; when you listen, you give and receive. Most times, the speaker seems to be the person on top of the chain, while the listener, is at the passive receiving end. This, however, is not entirely true. Active listeners learn more than the speaker, and they naturally occupy an influential position in the presence of the speaker.

17. You learn from your mistakes

Successful people don’t make the same mistake multiple times. They learn from their own mistakes and those of others. This makes them get better every day.

18. You learn to trust people

Trust is an important commodity for success but many people might not know this. Successful people learn to trust other people that they are affiliated with. They take calculated risks with people. Whereas, other people are afraid and untrusting, thus missing out on important partnerships in the long run.

19. You understand that education is not

Education is a lifetime process of acquiring knowledge to shape our world and make you a more productive person. It does not end with bagging a degree or qualifications. If your university degree does not make you better at succeeding in your areas of passion, you didn’t go through it the right way.

20. You don’t give up on your dreams

What do you gain by giving up? I don’t think there are any gains either, only losses, disappointments and frustrations. Rather than give up on their dreams, successful people strive to get better every passing day.

21. You keep good company

Who your friends define who you are or who you eventually become. Be with those that add value to your life, and also be prepared to impact them positively too. If none of these is happening (if you are not impacting each other positively), you have no business being with such people.

22. You feel confident about yourself

Self-confidence is not about how successful you are at the moment, it’s about how successful you see yourself to be. Self-confidence is only possible if you keep your eyes focused on your great capabilities, and keep in check anything that stands in the way of your self-worth.

23. You train yourself to recognise and maximize opportunities

Opportunities are everywhere but still hard to discover. Successful people continually train themselves to recognise and harness opportunities. One way they do this is by quickly acting on an idea instead of wasting too much time thinking about it.

24. You care less about what others think of you

Whether positive or negative, do not live for the comments of others. Be the best definition of yourself and not anyone else. Be interested in how to make yourself better but don’t do it for the praise of others. “If you expect good from everybody, even the ones that you have done good to, you would be the unhappiest person in the world” – Gen. Olusegun Obasanjo, 3rd Democratic President of Nigeria.

25. You understand the pain of others

Empathy and compassion are two important ingredients of success. Being able to see and understand other people’s perspectives gives you an opportunity to get more ideas that meet their needs. Keep in view, success is about meeting a need.

26. You are passionate about what you do

It might not seem like the most lucrative job but because it aligns well with your passion, it feels like the most lucrative job. Successful people are those who establish themselves along the lines of their passions, and this gives them the strength to keep pushing through challenging times.

27. You respect and learn from those above you

One clear sign that you are going to be highly successful is when you recognize hierarchy. This may be in terms of age, educational level, or achievements. When you respect those above you with a genuine desire to learn from them, success naturally flows down on you, because they are also more willing to help you succeed.

28. You are creative with what you have

Humans have evolved through the centuries because of our creativity. Creativity is the bedrock of all inventions and innovation. To become highly successful, you need to get creative with everything you have. Even the cheap, readily available things around you are valuable raw materials if creatively harnessed.

29. You are multifaceted

Successful people are more open to exploring other aspects of their lives without sticking to just a small fragment. Being able to understand all your capabilities and building on them makes you a hundred times more likely to be successful than someone who limits himself to the only thing life pushes on him.

30. You persevere through hard times

I can’t say this enough; hard times are temporary but they teach some of the greatest lessons any man can ever learn. If you have the mindset of persevering through hard times, you’d definitely come up with lessons that would change your life. But if you give up during hard times, you would still come alive but even more miserable than before.

31. You don’t compare yourself with others

The earlier you realise that you are not on the same track as others, the faster you become successful. When you see other people who are achieving the great successes you desire, you motivate yourself to achieve similar or more results instead of hating them or negatively comparing yourself to them. Comparing yourself with other people often have the outcome of reducing your self-worth but successful people only compare themselves with their own selves in a bid to get better.

32. You believe in yourself

Successful people believe in themselves even if nobody believes in them. You can only get as far as you believe you can.

Finally, highly successful people are not people with two heads or brains. They are just like anyone of us with the same abilities and opportunities as many of us, sometimes even less. But they possess exceptional qualities that place them on the sure path to success, thirty-two of which have been discussed in this post. I hope this helps you become better towards achieving your dreams and becoming successful.
