Governor Wavinya Challenges MPs: Keep Politics Out of County Affairs

Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti took a strong stand against certain Members of the National Assembly, accusing them of engaging in underhanded political tactics to destabilize her government. The governor made these statements during an unexpected visit to Machakos Level 5 Hospital, where she went incognito wearing a 'buibui' and facemask.

Addressing a swarm of journalists who discovered her secret mission, Wavinya dismissed reports circulating in the media about the collapse of health services in Machakos. She asserted, "I decided to sneak into this facility hiding my identity to gather first-hand information about healthcare service delivery, and I can authoritatively confirm that everything is running smoothly."

Turning her attention to specific MPs, Wavinya accused them of financially supporting a political smear campaign against her government's programs. She urged these MPs, namely Vincent Musyoka (Mwala), Patrick Makau (Mavoko), and Caleb Mule (Machakos Town), to focus on their constitutional obligation of overseeing President William Ruto, emphasizing that oversight functions in counties are reserved for MCAs and senators.

Undeterred by the attempts to discredit her government, Wavinya declared, "People can do politics with any other sector, but they must not drag healthcare matters into these dirty politics. It is grossly immoral and evil to make people's health a subject of political games."

Expressing her bewilderment, the governor questioned why legislators from the National Assembly were fixated on county government activities while critical functions under their dockets remained unattended. Wavinya affirmed her commitment to resisting desperate attempts by her opponents to undermine her government, particularly when it comes to matters as crucial as healthcare.
