1- Only You (The Infertile Husband)

It's been ten years since I got married to Hauwa but she is yet to bear me a child. Before we became a couple, we had gone through countless obstacles from both our foes and some of our family members.

I never imagined the obstacles have a lot on the cue after our marriage. Some obstacles are strong enough to get applied by our opponents in order to cut the ties between me and my beloved wife.

My name is Adam, a child raised by a middle-class family. I fell in love with Hauwa during my adolescent period until full adulthood permitted me to confess my love to her, that was when I was done with my NYSC. I am a Graphic Designer, who works at a Printing Press Company in Kaduna.

My wife, Hauwa was raised by a high-class lineage. The kind of family that is inclined to set out a price for everything they desire to attain. A family that can buy emotions with money. An influential clan. Her father, Hud, is the Chairman of Hud Group. It is a group of companies that skyrockets with the passage of days.

No matter the misconceptions, tricks, and falsehoods implored by our antagonists, we still stick together, ready for each other and at the get-go to win the hearts of each other.

This day we resolved to see the doctor for being childless for the past ten years.

"Doctor, come clean with us. Let the cat out of the bag. We have prepared to embrace any sort of results. Just say it." My wife explained, her eyes full of passion when she looked at me as she smiled.

I smiled back at her.

"Yes, Doctor! You can say it. We live for each other and can surrender for each other." I added.

The doctor handed over a slip to us. I collected as he started saying.

"The infertility is from your side, Adam. The issue is the blockage of sperm movement which causes a lack of sperm. In the cases of infertility, a man produces less sperm than normal. Let me cut the long narration. What do you plan to do afterward?"

"It took us ten years to come to this resolving issue on knowing where the problem is. And we promised to keep being married partners no matter where the origin of the problem would come from. I promised to live with my honey even though he is the infertile one." My wife remarked.

"And I also promised to never get into polygamy had it been she was the infertile one. Since it has unfolded to this, now she is the one to bear patience living with me."

"Oh, honey! Do not say I have to bear patience living with you. Sincerely, I love you out of true love."

"Incredible, this surely is a rare and pure love. But, can you endure whatever your families might probably impose on you?" The doctor was concerned.

We looked at each other, pulled out a heartfelt smile, and simultaneously said.

"Yes."

"How?"

"We either tell them we are both infertiles or not."  We responded simultaneously.

The doctor stared at us as he smiled.

We also smiled, showing him that we really meant whatever we had said.
