Human Cloning: Is It Really Possible?

A profound understanding of this subject is extremely important because it is built on a misleading foundation.

It is rather unfortunate that Satan has succeeded in fooling many, especially within the science community, into believing that – like he told Eve in Eden – they shall [and can] be like gods – GENESIS 3: 5.

I want to briefly examine the subject or science of cloning.

The word clone, in all its simplicity, means to ‘duplicate or replicate.’ In recent years, a lot of ‘buzz’ has been made about cloning. Science, doubtless, has made fantastic breakthroughs in the area of cloning. Notable among such breakthroughs was – and still is – the cloning of certain animals. It was euphoric to discover that animals (and even plants) could be duplicated without the sexual or asexual process of reproduction. Without question it’s totally amazing. Apparently it appears that man, finally, has been bestowed with the creative power of the gods – or God?

It is quite necessary to state here that of all scientific innovations, the science of cloning ranks among the highest – if not the highest. Warm congratulations then to those geniuses who broke powerful ground in this remarkable field of genetics.

However, research has been put in top gear to extend the cloning concept to humans. In effect, should science succeed in achieving this great feat then conclusively man becomes God.

Personally, I was impressed when I learned of the first animal clone – a sheep that was cloned from the mammary gland tissue of a six-year old ewe, back in February 1997. I was impressed in the sense that I understood the real – and hidden – principle behind it.

But when I learned about the plan – by man – to clone man I became rather concerned. This was as a result of one fact I knew; which is: science cannot create man. Science, through medicine and its other branches, can do a lot of wonderful things for man – but it cannot duplicate, replicate or clone him.

Therefore, I would like to state categorically here that every attempt to clone man cannot and will not succeed. Such researches are merely, and rather sadly, huge wastes of precious time and other resources that should be channeled appropriately.

The reasons for my pessimism are borne out of some very simple universal and basic facts, which I am about to present to you. I therefore appeal to you to hear me patiently.

For us to fully understand and appreciate all that I am about to say, we need to go back to Creation. It gladdened my heart when I  discovered that a good number of  scientists today have realized and accepted the eternal fact that the Universe as we have it – and all that is within it, including man – was created by God. On this basis, I believe my reasons and explanations will become relatively easier and clearer.

Like I said before, an understanding of Creation will throw light on the impossibility and futility of cloning humans.

The Creation of man, in all respect, is very distinct from that of animals. Let us start from the beginning. In GENESIS 1:20, 24 it says, “And God said let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven…And God said let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle and creeping thing and beast of the earth after his kind…and it was so.”

Now let us partly look at verse 26, which says, “And God said let us make man in our image, after our likeness…” Let us go further to verse 27, which says, “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.”

Finally, we will consider GENESIS 2:7, which says, “And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and man became a living soul.”

A fairly long scriptural reading you would say. I quite agree. But they are imperative for the explanations I am about to put forward.

In GENESIS 1:20, 24 it is crystal clear that all the animals – including all other lower creatures – were made from both the water and the earth. They were spoken into existence; God spoke them into being. However, when it came to creating man, God formed him from the dust of the earth.

There is a wide difference between spoken and formed.

Almighty God issued a command, and all the other creatures appeared. But, in man’s case, He personally made him with His own hands. Isn’t that marvelous?

Also, unlike other creatures, man was not only personally created; he was created in God’s own image and likeness. That is why Scripture says we are fearfully and wonderfully made.

Two words stand out clear here: Image and Likeness. Being created in God’s Image talks about the physical attributes of man – head, arms, legs, etc. The Image of God here denotes His general appearance. Contrary to any theological teaching, God, in manifestation form, looks like man.

On the other hand, Likeness is two-fold: first, it deals with who God really is. JOHN 4:24 tells us who – or what – God is. He is a Spirit Being. And second, Likeness refers to His creative ability…His attribute of universal dominion.

Man was made in God’s Image and Likeness. Therefore, from this, we know that man exists in two main phases: The Physical and The Spiritual. The physical aspect of man was formed from the dust, while the spiritual aspect came into existence only after God imparted a small measure of His likeness by breathing life into him. Thus man became a living soul, with creative dominion on earth.

Now, unlike man, who was made in God’s own Image, all other creatures were created in different shades of Images. Other creatures don’t have Likenesses of any kind. To put it more directly: they, unlike man, don’t have (divine) spirits. This, of course, is the only reason why it is possible to clone them. Their Images and Genetic structures can be duplicated or replicated – God allows that. But man cannot be cloned because within him lies a measure of God’s Likeness – and this, being spiritual, cannot be humanly replicated. It may be possible to clone man’s Image of God but it will only be an empty shell, utterly useless, until life (from God) enters into such a human creation.

Therefore my sincere advice to the concerned scientists is to avoid cloning humans; as every attempt to do so will fail. Also read PSALM 104:11-29. Pay particular attention to verse 29.

How about test-tube babies?

There are those who would put up an argument in support of the possibility of cloning man by citing the example of test-tube babies. While this is unavoidably true, we must remember that in the creation of test-tube babies, the universal concept of reproduction or procreation remains the same – that is, without the sperm and ova there can be no zygote. The meeting of the sperm and ova produces a life force, which may or may not yield a child – all depending on which side the pendulum of the divine program for creation chooses to swing. That is why the test-tube method is not a 100% guarantee.

On the overall I would like to add that in cloning, the process of procreation is not followed, since it involves or deals with the human cell or genetic structure.

Test-tube experiments, however, since they follow procreation process, tend to work…but, like I said before, not always.
